Garret VanSant (1644-1706) was born in 1644 in Zaandam, North Holland. In 1668,
Garret married Lysbeth Cornelis Gerretze (1647-1727) in New York. Lysbeth was born in
Holland Reusel-de Mierden Noord-Brabant, Netherlands in 1647. Among their ten children
were two sons named Stoffel (1670-1749) and his younger brother, George (1687-1755) Van
Sandt. All their children were baptized in the Dutch Reform Church, a Presbyterian Church,
located in Bensalem, Bucks, Pennsylvania. Garret managed to establish himself successfully and
made an easy transition from loyalty to the Dutch to loyalty to the English when England took
over the colony in 1664. In 1681 he became the magistrate of New Utrecht, Long Island. In
1695 he sold his Yellow Hook plantation in Utrecht and moved his family in 1698 to Bensalem,
Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He died on June 5, 1706 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania and Lysbeth
        died on February 28, 1727.
