        Joris George Van Sandt (1687-1755), Stoffel's younger brother and the son of Garret
        and Lysbeth (Gerretze) VanSant, was born in Flatbush, Kings County, New York in 1687. He
        was a Maryland tobacco planter and moved with his father's extended family from the Dutch
        colony of New York to Bensalem Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He married Maike "Mary"
        Vandergrift (1689-1760) in 1706 and purchased his wife's dad's farm in Bensalem,
        Pennsylvania. In 1714, he sold the farm and went back to Maryland. They had twelve children.
        Rosetta Van Sandt, born in 1716 in Maryland, was their fifth child. Joris died on March 22,
        1755 in Kent, Cecil County, Maryland at the age of 67 and bequeathed land to his six sons;
        Rosetta received ten pounds. Maike died in Cecil County in 1760 at the age of 71.
