        John Hance (1645-1709) came from England in 1659 and settled on a plantation in
        Maryland. He married Sarah Leigh on August 29, 1677 in Calvert Cliffs and had two children.
        After Sarah died, John married Mary Ann Sewell (1665-1695) in August 1687. Mary Ann's
        parents were John Sewell (1650-1677) from England and Eleanor (1650-1677) from Calvert. In 1692, John and Mary Ann had a son named Benjamin Hance (1692-1773). Following Mary
        Ann's death in 1695, John married a third time to Sarah Billingsley (1660-1731) and had two
        more children, Elizabeth and John Jr. John Hance died in May 1709.
