Aunt Alys (Oct 11, 1900 - Jun 17, 1993) married Bob Ward (1902-1988) on September
1, 1930. Uncle Bob was an electrical engineer and worked for General Electric. They lived in
Itasca where they had two children, Karen (1940- ) and Robert (1942-). Sonders' family get
togethers were mainly held at their house. It was my Uncle Bob who interested me in going to
Carthage College. While Karen led a wild life, my cousin Robert was a super nice guy who
served in the Navy as a nuclear engineer on an atomic submarine. Robert was one of my
groomsmen at our wedding.
